Christmas week has been a lot of fun! We had elves hiding around the room for us to find on Thursday and Friday was Stuffed Animal Day. We each got to bring a little friend to spend the day with us because our class met the goal of earning 20 "PAW" notes. (They are given for random positive behaviors.) Later this afternoon, we'll wear our elf hats we made, and bring our little friends to the All School Sing. We'll sing Christmas carols with the whole school! Have a wonderful break and THANK YOU for sharing your precious children with me all year long!:)
Yesterday, we worked on "app smashing" with Mr. Badura. This is where you use multiple apps to create a product on the ipads. We'll finish the projects next Tuesday. Then, you'll get a QR code that you can scan and see/hear what your child has created! I can't wait for you to see their creativity.
We had a "Mystery Skype" last week where we learned that our new pen pals are from San Diego, California! We look forward to learning a lot about their part of the country this year. So fun!!!
Yay!!! We met our new pen pals on Skype today! We don't know yet where Mrs. Moses's class is from, but we'll learn soon. They told us that earlier this week, it was 80 degrees there! WOW! We told them how COLD it was earlier this week here in Nebraska. The kids have lots of guesses as to where they are!
Mr. Badura showed us a fun app on Tuesday. It's called Tellagami. We'll be making one and putting it in Kidblog eventually. Have your child tell you about the one they made.
Hello all! It's getting COLD out there! Please make sure your child has gloves and hat every day. Our morning recesses can be quite chilly. Here's a shot from our inside recess when it was too cold to go out:)
This week, we'll meet a class that we will be pen pals with! I'm super excited! Ask your child about it later in the week:)Thank you to everyone who came to Parent/Teacher Conferences! It's always fun to talk with the parents and tell them all the wonderful things their children are doing at school. I appreciate your support at home!
Check out the pumpkin characters down by the 3rd grade pod during conferences next week! They are amazing!:)
Good morning! Please be sure to read the Weekly Newsletter link to the right! It has important upcoming events, reminders and a summary of everything we'll be doing over the next 2 weeks. THANKS!!!
Well, we made it through our first week of Walk to Read. We've found that most of our little friends are right where they need to be. However, we've also found a few that belong in another group. Don't be surprised if your child says a new person is in their reading group or THEY go to a new group starting Tuesday. We just want to be sure we're meeting every child's needs. Here is a picture of my a child in my reading class working on writing a class book with the app PicCollage. Have a great 3 day weekend!:)

One full week down! The kids have been GREAT this week. I can tell today that they are tired, though! I hope every family has some rest time over the weekend. We painted with our high school helper, Brendan, this week. We also visited every first grade classroom during reading. On Monday, your child will start to "Walk to Read". We have leveled reading classes. Ask your child on Monday about their new reading teacher!:)
Hello all! We had a CRAZY, wonderful first 3 days this week. On Friday, our Mayor read us a book about being a "Bucket Filler". We'll be talking about that a lot this week, and then throughout the year. Please ask your child about how they filled a bucket, or who filled theirs this week. Here's a picture of the Mayor reading to the whole elementary.
Also, we get to have Brendan as our high school helper this semester. Yes, he also happens to be my oldest son!:) Your child may mention working with him, so I wanted you to know who he is!!! He'll be helping us at the end of the day with writing, art and science.Tonight is Open House! I can't wait to meet my new class of 21 learners!
